You Have the Power

Hello again, dear readers! I apologize for not posting in a while- my schedule has been overloaded with meetings on top of meetings on top of assignments and classes and well, you get the picture. But now that I have this time to write a post, I want to write about something that I have experienced personally, and something that I think is really important for students coming to college in the fall.

I want to talk to you about yourself. That's right. The power of yourself. The power of your mind, and the power that you have within you.

You may not realize it now, but you have a lot of power within you. What can you do with this power? You can do anything with it. That's the great thing about it and it's also the catch. You can do anything you want with your power, so what will you do with it? You can thrust this power into every single thing that you do, creating the life (and college experience) of your dreams. Or, you can just do nothing with it, resulting in a life (and college experience) that is lackluster, dull, and not all that exciting.

For a while, I was doing the latter. I was just going through the motions of my college experience, going to class, doing homework, going to sleep, and then repeating it all over again the next day. And in my mind, I was doing a lot. I was putting effort into everything that I did, and I was doing fine. This was true to an extent. I was only putting effort into the schoolwork part of things, which for me is the easy part. But, I was not putting effort into having a good time otherwise. I just did the work that I needed to do, and to me, that was sufficient. But now I'm realizing that I have this power within me to do so much more. To get more involved than I already am in clubs and extracurricular activities, to make more friends, and just to have a better time.

I know that it's almost too late to be realizing this when my freshman year is already coming to a close, but I saw this quote the other day that said, "Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending." When I saw this quote, I realized it was kind of speaking to me. What I got out of that quote was that what I've already done was okay, because at the time, it was all I knew how to do. And even though I can't go back and change what I've already done, I can move forward from this point and work to create a happy ending.

What I want you to know is that you all have this power within you to make you life, and in this case, your college experience something great. Don't let that power just sit inside of you and collect dust. Be your own fairy godmother and take yourself to the ball that is life. Don't just sit back and go through the motions. Create the life and college experience that you know you deserve.

As always, thanks for reading. Feel free to follow my blog by submitting your email in the box at the top-right of this page, or by following me on all social media platforms listed on the right side of the page.
