How did we arrive at August already?!?! Not too long ago, I was just filling you in on the beginnings of my summer vacation, and now here I am, weeks away from the start of my sophomore year of college. I know it sounds cliche, but I truly cannot believe it.
This summer went by faster than any summer I have ever experienced. Each day passed as quickly as each week, and each week passed as quickly as each month. And here we stand, in August, on the edge of another school year.
I'm sure you can already tell that I have mixed feelings about this. Summer is my favorite season for many reasons, but especially because it is the one time of year when students are allowed to do nothing! So of course the end of summer saddens me, because it means not only do I not get ice cream every night, but I also have to start studying for tests and doing homework yet again.
But as sad as I am about summer's impending end, I also feel somewhat hopeful. I am hopeful for the fresh start that a new school year brings. I am hopeful for what I can accomplish this year. I am hopeful for a better year than freshman year. So even though I never enjoy the end of summer vacation, I really do have a lot waiting for me when I return to school.
School will start soon enough, bringing with it hopes, joys, and some trying moments. But until then, I will park myself in my favorite seat by the pool and enjoy as many ice cream cones as I can ;-)
Until next time,
That Summertime University Girl
