Okay, so I know I haven't written in a while. I haven't forgotten about my blog, I promise. I have been super busy within the past two to three weeks that finding even five minutes to write was literally impossible. But I am back, and please forgive me if I am a little rusty!
If anyone is wondering what I've been up to in the past few weeks, I have done more homework, studied for more tests, attended more meetings, and done more things for clubs in this short amount of time than I had done all last year combined. As many of us have been learning, it's midterm season, and I have been feeling the effects of that! So I have had midterms, quizzes, presentations, reading, and general homework assignments. I have had an abundance of meetings, as well as events to attend that were sponsored by the clubs I am a part of. So to say I was busy is quite an understatement. But I guess I could say that I way busy in a good way.
Besides school and all the work that comes along with it, being involved with certain clubs and organizations on campus has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have joined things that are interesting to me, such as the student newspaper, the television station, and the radio station, along with the student government. All of these clubs are great chances to not only meet people with the same interests as you, but also to just relax after a long day of classes.
To be honest, as stressful as it is to see that I have two or three meetings in one afternoon (yes, clubs are GREAT at scheduling their meetings all on the same day and within a half an hour of each other), once I am in the meeting, I forget all about being stressed and all the other meetings I have to go to, and I just enjoy the time I spend with the other people in the club.
If someone were to ask me how important joining clubs are when you get to college, I would say they are extremely important, if not vital. For me, I am not happy unless I am busy. When I have too much time to myself, I think about what I could be doing if I weren't at school (as in, "You know, I could be home watching Say Yes to the Dress right now in my pjs while eating a bowl of ice cream instead of sitting in a shoebox size room with nothing to do"). So being a part of a club or organization that is interesting to me and makes me a part of a larger community is vital for my overall happiness at college. I am willing to bet that many other people feel the same way.
I know that many students argue that they don't have time for clubs; that their majors are too demanding, or they just don't have the time or interest to be part of a club. But I can assure you, even the student with the busiest of majors would benefit from being in a club just by getting the chance to take a step back from their work, clear their minds, and enjoy the company of some like-minded people.
With that said, go out and join a club that interests you! Now!
It's good to be back!
